Superheroes have never been more popular than in recent years. Not only are comic sales holding strong but the box office success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has meant that it’s not just Batman and Superman that are now household names.

With literally hundreds of superheroes gracing the screen and comic pages, there is a superhero for everyone.
There are also a surprising number of superheroes that have the most amazing facial hair. Some of the most popular superheroes such as Iron Man have mustaches but there are also several lesser-known superheroes that have mustaches as well.
In this article, we have the 9 best superheroes with mustaches that you need to check out. We’ve picked a variety of different superheroes from several different companies and of different levels of fame and notoriety.
We’ve also included a couple of supervillains because no superhero is complete without a villain!
1. Iron Man
Arguably the most famous superhero that has a mustache is Iron Man, Tony Starks. Originally, the comic book version of Tony Stark featured just a mustache that was a combination of a pencil and pyramidal mustache.
However, the popularity of Robert Downey Jr.’s take on Tony Stark in the MCU has given Iron Man a goatee instead.
Starks is a genius billionaire that becomes Iron Man after becoming fatally wounded. To prevent shrapnel from reaching his heart and killing him, an electromagnet is implanted into his chest.
This becomes the base of his arc reactor and powerful Iron Man armor. Starks is one of the founder members of the Avengers and whether it’s in comics or live action, he’s one of the most recognizable superheroes in the world.
2. Green Arrow
Oliver Queen is another billionaire superhero only this time, he comes from the pages of DC Comics. He was also the focus of the CW show Arrow.
Unlike most other superheroes on this list, Green Arrow has no superpowers and instead relies on his amazing marksmanship to be a vigilante that fights street-level crime.
Green Arrow is also affiliated with the Justice League group of superheroes. Queen became a hero after a boat accident made him reassess his billionaire lifestyle. Green Arrow is a champion for social issues as well as a superhero.
Queen’s look is characterized by his Robin Hood-style outfit and his wonderful blond goatee and mustache. If you want to be inspired by thick and luscious facial hair, then Green Arrow is a great character to look at!
3. Doctor Strange
Like Iron Man, Doctor Strange has found more fame and notoriety since the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Doctor Stephen Strange was a very successful surgeon until a car accident destroyed his medical career.
While searching for a cure, he found the Ancient One in Tibet who eventually agreed to train Strange to become the Master of the Mystical Arts and a powerful sorcerer.
Doctor Strange’s facial hair can shift between a basic mustache and a goatee. In most comics, he has a mustache, but this is often accompanied by either a goatee or soul patch.
The live-action version of Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch has a goatee but we prefer our Doctor Strange with just a mustache.
4. Hogun The Grim
Hogun the Grim is a Marvel Comics character that is one of the legendary Warriors Three and is a long-term ally of Thor.
A highly respected warrior, Hogun is known for his stern demeanor but when needed, he is always available to help Thor and prevent the antics of Thor’s brother, Loki. The character has also appeared in all of the Thor movies in the MCU.
Hogun has a wide variety of different superpowers that are native to Vanirs. These include superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, and stamina. They also live for thousands of years.
During his appearances in the Marvel comics, Hogun the Grim sports a Fu Manchu mustache. This is a very suitable mustache for the character as it evokes images of immense wisdom and age.
It takes a long time and a great commitment to grow a Fu Manchu mustache and this represents Hogun’s longevity and determination.
5. Dum Dum Dugan
Another character from Marvel Comics, Timothy “Dum Dum” Dugan is one of Nick Fury’s oldest and closest allies. He’s also one of the original members of the Howling Commandos, the elite combat squad that was led by Captain America during World War II.
After the war, Dum Dum Dugan became the leader of the squad.
Dugan has an extended life thanks to the Infinity Formula and was later resurrected as a Life-Model Decoy, a S.H.I.E.L.D. designed robot that looks and acts human.
Both as a human and a robot, Dum Dum Dugan sports a great handlebar mustache. This is his signature look but Dugan has also experimented with Horseshoe and Walrus mustaches.
6. Omni-Man
Omni-Man is a character from Image Comics and is one of many superhero characters that takes a lot of inspiration from Superman.
He is an alien and is a representative of the Viltrumite Empire who comes to Earth to see if the planet is viable to join the Empire. Upon his arrival, Omni-Man acts as a superhero and forms the Guardians of the Globe to look after the Earth.
However, he soon shows his true colors when his son, Invincible, shows his own superpowers. Omni-Man kills thousands of people and attacks his son, marking his true nature as a villain.
Eventually, he joins his son to destroy the evils of the Viltrumite Empire but for most of his run in Image Comics, Omni-Man is seen as a villain.
Omni-Man comes from an alien species where all males have a thick and luxurious mustache. It’s a walrus-style mustache and is part of Omni-Man’s iconic look.
7. Sinestro
From one villain to another. Sinestro is a DC Comics character that began as a heroic Green Lantern. The Green Lantern Corps is tasked with protecting the universe and each Lantern has its own sector to patrol.
They have magical rings that give them powers fueled by their imagination and bravery.
Sinestro rebelled against the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians that oversee the Lanterns and became the main villain of Hal Jordan’s comic run.
Sinestro became a powerful foe for Jordan by finding a Qwardian ring that utilizes the yellow spectrum against Jordan’s green spectrum.
The character’s look is iconic thanks to his red skin and thin mustache. It’s a very typical villain mustache and takes the form of a neatly trimmed handlebar mustache that Sinestro loves to twirl whenever he can.
8. Thunderbolt Ross
General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross is a classic enemy of the Incredible Hulk. He’s the father of Betty Ross who is the longtime romantic partner of Bruce Banner and is deeply connected to Banner.
Ross was in command of the base where Bruce Banner became the Incredible Hulk after being hit by experimental gamma rays. Since the incident occurred, Ross has been determined to capture and contain Banner and the Hulk.
In more recent comics, Ross has also gained the ability to become a Hulk himself. Instead of turning into a green hulk like Banner, he instead becomes the Red Hulk and one of his powers is that he can siphon energy away from his enemies.
Unfortunately, when Ross becomes the Red Hulk his mustache does not transform with him. The Red Hulk may be without a mustache but in his human form, the comic book version of Thunderbolt Ross has a thick walrus mustache.
In the MCU, Ross was originally played by William Hurt but after the actor unfortunately passed away, the role has now been filled by Harrison Ford.
9. Matches Malone
We may be cheating slightly with this last entry, but we’ll take any opportunity we can to add Batman to a list!
Matches Malone is an alter-ego of Bruce Wayne. Whenever Bruce needs information from the criminals of Gotham City and Batman’s more direct approach won’t work, he dons the disguise of Matches Malone to infiltrate the underworld.
Along with his sunglasses, bright suits, and ever-present matchstick in his mouth, one of Matches’ most identifying features is a stylish mustache. This is a key part of the usually clean-shaven Bruce’s disguise.
If a mustache is good enough for Batman, then it’s good enough for any man!
